rosebed: (make a paste)
[ The war is over and she is an outcast to her kind; blood has been spilled, countless Gems have been destroyed and corrupted, and all that's left of her army is a field full of weapons and two of her most loyal, noble equals and friends.

Her body does not feel weak and she still has hope, but she still finds herself feeling what the humans describe as 'weary.' She doesn't quite know if what she's done is right or not, but she hopes that it will start something wonderful. Moss grows around her feet, consuming the land like a fungus, yet she cannot help but admire how beautiful it truly it. It feels soft against her toes; it serves as a reminder that protecting everything on this Earth is what she's dreamed and she's done just that. Now humans and Gems can live together, even if there's only a few of her kind left. That doesn't stop her from thinking of how much there is to see, to learn, to give, to show.

She decides to think about these things later, after everything is settled with and the final preparations have been made. For now, she revels that it's time for a celebration — one to honor those lost in battle and one for hopes of the future.

And at the thought of future a particular Gem comes to the forefront of her mind.

Pearl.

She feels the need to find her right away; it's an urgent situation that she can't put behind. There are many things that need to be done, but right now the one thing at the top of her list is her. Her heart remembers the promise they made, the night that served meaning to so much of their plans, and the hope that maybe someday, somehow, they could be together without fearing the consequences of the Homeworld.

Rose feels free; she feels calm knowing that the Gem is safe, that she's been so strong throughout all of this, and Rose feels as if she has to embrace her as hard as she can, showing her the love and affection she's been holding back for so long.

As she begins to turn around, she notices that the Gem is already there.
